Name That Song

Remember I told you that Napoleon and Hazel are getting married?  Well, the day is rapidly approaching.  We have one month before the “I do’s” are exchanged.

I figured all the arrangement had been made, all time frames solidified and all lists checked off.  I thought we were just coasting until the big day.  Since I am the mother of the groom, my role has been minimal and after planning the wedding for our one and only one daughter, I was OK with that.  But Mama Sez does like to have her input.  Last night Napoleon called and asked me the question of the month:  What song would I like to have as our Mother/Son Wedding Dance Song?

As much as I like music and as many lyrics as I can sing, I was caught off guard.  I quickly named a few but we have not yet named THE song for the dance.  This is where you come in.

What song or songs do you suggest for the all important Mother/Son Dance?

This, is our fork in the road
    Love’s last episode
There’s nowhere to go, oh no

You made your choice, now it’s up to me
    To bow out gracefully
Though you hold the key, but baby

Whenever you call me, I’ll be there
Whenever you want me, I’ll be there
Whenever you need me, I’ll be there
    I’ll be around

This is an excellent suggestions. I will definitely be campaigning for this one. We can be little Spinners on the dance floor. Get it? Little Spinners. We’re both short 🙂

I am a huge Spinners’ fan! Sadie may be a little too slow for a nice, fun swing dance….but, still a contender in my book!

You are on a roll and I like it. Sadie might be a little slow but I do like the sentiment therein. I’ll let you know the final choice. Thanks for helping.

Hmm…I like “I’ll Be Around.” Very appropriate since you’re such a huge Spinners fan.

I also like – How Sweet It Is/James Taylor. Groovy People/Lou Rawls might work – more fun than sentimental. You are the Sunshine of My Life/Steveland Morris

what about Roberta Flack’s “First Time I saw your face”
or “I found that girl” by Jackson 5
and there’s always Boyz to Men’s “Song for mamma”

Love Roberta Flack and the song. I’ll be sure to include it in the suggestions. “Napoleon” is kinda perky and not a good dancer. I am perky and a good dancer (I am also humble 🙂 ). I can just imagine him clowning trying to pass the dance floor time and including the sentiment of B2M.
